چکیده

To study the effects of perfume and phytonc;d on GABAA receptors, ionotropic GABAA receptors were expressed in Xlanopus eocytes by iajecting mRNAs that had been prepared from rat whole brain. Essential eil, pevfume and such phytoncid as leaf alcehol, hinokitiel, pinene, eugenol, citronellol and citronellal potentiated the response in the presence of GABA at low cencentratiens (10 and 30 "M), possibly because they beund to the potentiatioll-site {n GABAA receptors and increased the aMnity of GABA to the receptors. Since it is known that the potentiation ef GABAA receptors by benzodiazepine, barbiturate, steroids

Fragrances in oolong tea that enhance the response of GABAA receptors.

We electrophysiologically investigated the effect of some fragrant compounds in oolong tea on the response of ionotropic gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors (GABAA receptors) which were expressed in Xenopus oocytes. Of the tested fragrances in oolong tea, cis-jasmone, jasmine lactone, linalool oxide and methyl jasmonate significantly potentiated the response. Among these, cis-jasmone and m...

GABAA Receptor Subunits in Rat Testis and Sperm

Background γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is considered to be the predominant inhibitory neurotransmitter in mammalian central nervous systems (CNS). There are two major classes of GABA receptors: GABAARs and GABABRs. The GABAA receptor is derived from various subunits such as alpha1-alpha 6, beta1-beta 3, gamma1-gamma 4, delta, epsilon, pi, and rho1-3. Intensive research has been performed to und...

POSSIBLE INVOLVEMENT OF GABAA RECEPTOR SITES IN CATALEPSY

The present work was performed to show the possible interaction of GAB A, and GABAB receptors in catalepsy. The following results were obtained: 1- Muscimol (MUS), a GABAA agonist, induced catalepsy. This effect was dose-dependent. Baclofen (BAC), a GABAB agonist, had no effect in this respect. 2- Catalepsy induced by muscimol was potentiated by pretreatment of animals with bicuculline (BI...

Modulation of neurosteroid potentiation by protein kinases at synaptic- and extrasynaptic-type GABAA receptors

GABAA receptors are important for inhibition in the CNS where neurosteroids and protein kinases are potent endogenous modulators. Acting individually, these can either enhance or depress receptor function, dependent upon the type of neurosteroid or kinase and the receptor subunit combination. However, in vivo, these modulators probably act in concert to fine-tune GABAA receptor activity and thu...

P145: The Role of γ-Aminobutyric Acid Receptor in The Social Anxiety Disorder

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is the one of the most common anxiety disorders. Despite its high prevalence, the disorder is still considerably undiagnosed and untreated. The disease places a massive burden on patient’s lives, affecting not only their social interactions but also their educational and professional activities, thereby constituting a severe disability. γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) s...
